Self-Guided Field Trips
Self-guided field trips include a brief orientation with a museum staff person, followed by 1
hour
(basic) or 2 hours (extended) of hands-on exploration of all museum exhibits.  Mess Hall
(cafeteria)
seating for 60 is available for scheduled groups at no charge.  The Mess Hall must   be
reserved
in advance.  Reservations are subject to availability.  Weather permitting, an outdoor picnic
area  
is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Available Field Trip Times:
*9:30, 10:45 a.m.
*12:00, 1:15, 2:30 p.m.
Field Trip Admission:
*$3.00 per child for 1-hour, basic field trips                                                                             
(1 adult admitted free per 5 children, with minimum charge of $35.00 per group).
$3.50/$4.00 per child for Book Bashes and Discovery Workshops
(1 adult admitted free per 5 children, with a minimum of $35.00/$40.00 per group).
*$4.00 per child for 2-hour, extended field trips
(1 adult admitted free per 5 children with a minimum of $40.00).
*Extra adults are $3.00 each.

Monday-Friday, 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
*GET ON THE BUS!  Children’s Museum of Illinois has bus transportation money available for
BodyWalk in March, and Basic field trips during the months of October, January, and
February.  
Due to budget constraints, only one $80 grant per class during this school year will be
allowed.  
There must be a minimum of 20 students per class.  Funding is for bus transportation only.

Discovery Workshops
All workshops/programs consist of 45-60 minutes of classroom time and a minimum of 45-60
minutes of exploration in the museum.  Please call 423-5437 with questions or for
additional
information.
There are NO workshops or programs on Mondays.
*Home school groups are also welcome at all grade-appropriate workshops.

Spying Science workshop
"Mr. Agent man! Oh, Mr. Agent Man!"
-CMI is seeking many  agents for there next workshop to learn the science of spying!
4th-6th grade

Big Science for Small Fries
-Pre-k-2nd grade
-$3.50  per child
-Time in museum: 45min. in class and 1 hour for museum exploration.

the Mystery of the Missing Colonists
Come and learn about the missing settlers of roanoke and the one piece of evidence left
behind, the word  "croatoan".
4th-6th grade.
-$4.00 per child
-time in the museum: 1 hour for class, 1 hour for museum exploration.

Prairie Pow-wow
Step into the world of the Indians. Sample the foods they ate and the traditions they
celebrated. Here we will be using our STARLAB
--K-2nd grade.

This Workshop features art for pre-schoolers, enabling them to sharpen both their gross
and fine motor skills.

Black History Month: Underground Railroad in Decatur
Through the month of February, you can study a little local history involving the famous
underground railroad! This will also feature the book
Fallow the Drinking Gourd.

Valentine's Day Book Bash!
This years book will be based on the book Hokey Pokey: Another Prickly Love Story.

Body Walk
All second grade students are welcome to attend this cooperative effort by CMI, The Macon

County Health Department,  and other community health organizations.  This is an action-
oriented
learning experience about health and nutrition that children love.  
***Bus grants are available on a limited basis.  Get on the Bus Grant sponsored by Amherst F.
Hardy Foundation.
*        Cost:  $4.00 per child
